Not Left Behind
A few years ago I wrote a blog about a young college age lady who chose life and adoption for her daughter! I chased down her car and offered to help her. She stopped her car as she thought I needed help! It was an emotional 7 months of helping her make better life choices. With the help of a Catholic pro life attorney, we found the perfect family for her little girl saved from abortion. Everything was going seemingly well until two weeks before her due date. The birth mother had a change of heart and decided to keep her little girl and raise her as a single mom. It was devastating news as the adoptive family had invested much time, emotions and financial support all knowing that the birth mother could change her mind at her whim and not necessarily making a wise decision given she was barely supporting herself on government aid.
This beautiful soul was born on Saint Martha’s feast day with a full head of curly black hair and a determined spirit! Although deeply disappointed, I continued to pray for this single mom and her new child and other 3 year old son from a previous relationship and even had the opportunity to baptize this little sweet one, at her baby shower, knowing this child would not be baptized any time soon! It broke my heart as I knew it would have been the best if this young lady had the courage to give her little girl up to a family to raise her in a loving Christian home.
I prayed for this young lady and I would get updates on her progress via FACEBOOK over the past two years. FAST FORWARD.
A few months ago I received a text from this young lady! I was surprised to hear from her with this text: Is this Vanessa? I was looking for your number everywhere. How are you? Well, I am pregnant again and I went to Planned Parenthood, but I couldn’t do it.”
WOW.. was I surprised and grateful to God that she had reached out again. I quickly texted her and called. She poured her heart out and I experienced a beautiful more humble soul needing a place to stay as she was kicked out of her parents. Her willingness to give this child of 20 weeks to an adoptive couple was such a huge step in the right direction.
Within a few weeks, we found a home for unwed mothers in the San Diego area. She chose an adoptive family and is working on her mothering skills and finding employment to grow in grace and service to God and others. I was sad to hear her daughter is living with the dad’s family and she rarely sees her because she cannot afford to take care of herself and her 5 year old son. Nevertheless, I continue to pray for all of them and I am amazed at how God works all things together for good and she has chosen a loving Catholic family to raise her son! I have attached photos of her daughter rescued from the mill as I chased her car down the street almost 3 years ago and a picture of her son who will now have the opportunity to be a part of a loving Catholic family. She has chosen the best, open adoption for her son. Please pray for all unwed moms for courage to love and do what is best despite their feelings. This little boy, still growing in her womb, was NOT LEFT BEHIND at the abortion mill to become another statistic despite the pressure this brave and courageous single mom, tempted to abort. She wisely choose life with the support of a caring pro life community!
Taking the Next Right “trip”
It had been one of those days at the mill. The weather was a mere 102. My clothes were sticking to me as I walked back and forth praying my rosary hoping for a miracle between the cracks in the sidewalk. This particular Wednesday afternoon, the parking lot was overflowing with cars and people hanging outside the Planned Parenthood patio. Dads, grandmas, and children wait under brightly colored umbrellas while their daughter, wife, girlfriend abort.
We live in strange times to say the least where right is wrong and wrong is right and truth is relative to any given moment. In other words, a culture of narcissism surrounds us clothed in reason according to my understanding void of true selflessness. I continued praying my rosary, step by step as the security cameras and armed guard kept a close eye on me. That afternoon I talked to a few women and young teenagers and passed out info about NFP and pro life literature with joy hoping at least I might save a future child, if I can encourage the women going in for birth control to consider natural family planning and chastity before they say I DO.
The time went by quickly, and as I was gathering my signs and nodding good bye to the security guard, I noticed a car pull in front of PP without going into the parking lot. Their windows rolled down and seemed to be pondering a decision to turn in or not. I didn’t have my literature on me as it was a good distance away. I quickly approached the car window with no literature and asked, “Do you have an appointment at Planned Parenthood today?”
The young Hispanic driver, answered “yes.”
His girlfriend; with her head down, did not answer.” Are you pregnant? I asked with forthrightness.
She said with no emotion, ” We are coming back this afternoon.”
“You must get an ultrasound! Your child is precious and is innocent of whatever circumstances brought you to this cross road! Abortion does not take away motherhood. You will be a mom no matter what, grieving the tragic death of your child or celebrating life as a single mom or a mom who chooses open adoption !”
I emphatically pleaded and continued. “There is a free medical clinic around the corner, they are open right now! Let me get you the info and address!”
The boyfriend looked relieved that perhaps his girlfriend might change her mind.
I turned around and walked a few steps and suddenly I was on the ground completely flat on my stomach with my phone bouncing out of my hand and a sharp pain pierced my rib and right knee. I laid on the grass for a few moments, praying this couple would not leave as I had tripped on a tree root! (see photo below). Without missing a beat, I pulled myself up with pain in my rib and knee, and quickly grabbed my literature along with a Donald Duck baby bib and ran back to the car.
” Honey, here you go! I am fine. Still walking!” Ironically, my untimely trip gave me a bit more time to share with them and encourage both of them to choose life! As they had heard my fall and groaning. They eagerly took the baby bib and pro life literature. I reached for the boyfriend’s hand squeezed it and looked deep into their eyes, and said, thank you for choosing life. She smiled back and held the tiny bib in her hand.
I knew a child had been saved as I took the next right trip!
Indeed, All of heaven rejoiced! On this day Roe vs Wade was overturned.
Growing One Blade At a Time
The other day at my local Planned Parenthood, the armed guard informed me that he was recently hired by the woman who owns the home next door to protect her growing grass. MADNESS is an understatement. SEE PHOTO ABOVE.
The guards were happy to assist her as it makes it now impossible for us to use this public area to post our signs and attempt to save lives. I asked the guard, “help me understand. You are hired to protect growing grass, and not growing babies in the womb?”
” Insanity is an understatement.” I emphatically stated as well.
He replied, “Lady, I am just doing my job.” I said nothing but a silent prayer. Indeed, Jesus weeps with us.
I pondered the insanity and thought, babies in the woman are being pulled out of their mother’s womb one limb at a time while the protected blades of grass have the freedom to grow one blade at a time safely protected by armed guards with the flags and border as pictured above.
Why not this Lenten season grow our own pro life blades of hope and encourage others to suit up and show up at abortion mills across our nation with rosary and/or prayers and a willing heart to encourage abortion minded men and women to turn their cars around and embrace life no matter the cost.
In the meantime, we might all spiritually adopt an unborn child this Lenten season and pray a simple prayer every day for 9 months written by Bishop Fulton Sheen: “Jesus, Mary, Joseph, save the babies. I beg you to spare the life of _____________ (name your child) the unborn baby that I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion.”
Note: Write the prayer on a 3×5 card and/or keep it on your I phone as a daily reminder by your computer with today’s date and the end date. Simple to do and most important we are helping heaven saving a growing baby one limb at a time!

Reminding all of us, especially me, to continue to suit up and show up and expect a miracle… a change of heart a baby saved, a woman making a decision to be open to life and learn natural family planning in her marriage… you never know what God can do with a willing heart despite our weaknesses, shortcomings and egos that often run riot throughout our seeking souls. God , I am willing, help our unwillingness. God works miracles in broken vessels as more light shines out for others to see!
I arrived at the mill this morning full of distraction and frustration. It was one of those pity party days. Despite the early morning prayers, desolation was creeping into my soul. I told myself as I drove over to the mill, I will get out of myself by suiting up and showing up in service to others.
I glanced into the parking lot at Planned Parenthood as I parked my car across the street. My heart sank as the parking lot was full, not an available parking space in sight. If I didn’t know better, I would think I was at Walmart, the day after Christmas.
I asked the guard has it been like this all day? He said, “yep, they party hard these last few days. Christmas season is big business here. ” It was my feeble attempt to see any “success” with the efforts of pro lifers who…

Whatsoever You Do Click on this Link to an amazing speech by Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta
Happy New Year! As we lean into this new year let us not forget who we are and why we need to keep seeking Him with all our hearts, soul and mind as we are living in a culture of death. It will become more and more apparent every day that people of faith, hope, and love will be greatly despised. I pray abundant courage and perseverance for all of us during these difficult days.
When the storm clouds gather, and the fear grips our often stony , and distracted heart, I pray we will have the eyes to see the silver lining in the storm. What is that silver lining? Our ego begins to die and we begin to serve others and not self.
During World War II, Anne Frank’s family and neighbors huddled together to survive. Because of their pressing living conditions, ego was choked out and love surfaced. All their walls came tumbling down and the question well what about me and my needs seems absolutely absurd in the face of much suffering and hardship. Their harsh reality of possible death in a concentration camp or to be discovered in their hiding place kept ego at bay. My prayer for all of us is to live in the reality that we are called to live with the day of our death held in our heart more than the closeness of our ego feeding gadgets around us. Tragically, we quickly forget who we are and that whatever we do in love and not ego, we do for Him whom we live and breathe and have our very being.
I have attached above a great Pro Life ego smashing speech given by Mother Teresa back in 1994 at a National Prayer Breakfast in DC. It is challenging to live her message of love when we seem to like the familiar mirrors of illusion and vanity more. Mother Teresa PRAY FOR US. Help us to bloom where we are planted.
What Child is this that lay to rest?
Christmas Eve is fast approaching. In a few hours, families will gather to worship the little Lord Jesus asleep in the hay. He is our only hope of salvation against the vortex of death swirling around us while helpless babies laying asleep in their mother’s womb are being suctioned away and sold to the highest bidder on this Christmas Day.
AWAY IN A COFFIN
Away in a coffin, no womb for a bed, The little poor baby could not lay down his sweet head.
The angels in the sky looked down where the child once lay, The little poor baby weeping and wailing he makes.
I pretend to love Thee, My Lord Jesus, turn away from me I plead, And keep away from my side till morning is nigh.
Be far from me , Lord Jesus, I beg Thee to leave, I pray
Utilize all the parts of my baby for worldly care, And take me to hell, to live apart from Thee there.
Our world has thrown away the manager and the baby for the passing pleasures of the moment never asking or pondering the question;
” What Child is this, who laid to rest, On Mary’s lap is sleeping?
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet, While shepherds watch are keeping?
This , this is Christ the King, Whom shepherds guard and angels sing: Haste, Haste to bring Him laud, The babe, the son of Mary.”
Mary Christmas indeed in this year of mercy.
